Girls In The Outdoors - Something I Said I Would Never Ever Do...

From the site: Girls In The Outdoors - Something I Said I Would Never Ever Do...

I have always said I would never ever go ice fishing....ever. Last winter, our ice fishing guest post kind of got me to rethinking it but I kept focusing on the cold and kept saying "noway." This winter my husband and a friend decided they were going to go ice fishing so this weekend we went to find some ice fishing gear for him. HIM, not me. All day long when my husband would jokingly hold up an ice fishing rod and ask if I wanted it, I would say no. It kind of became a fun game to find silly reasons why I didn't like the rod and/or reel. Some of my favorites were: it didn't have red, it didn't have a cork grip, it's too expensive and it wasn't cute enough. ALL day I did this until...   ...Read more...

Aluminarium - Lake Mead Hiking

From the site: Aluminarium - Lake Mead Hiking

Yesterday we tried to go on the Hamblin Mountain hike. Tim was our fearless leader, who at one point said “If you trust me, we can make it a loop” rather than hike back the way we came. The team agreed to follow Tim, and later learned on instagram that he had no idea where he was, though he was probably kidding since he’s a really good geo-cacher. We didn’t make it to the top since we were losing light, but did end up doing more than 5 miles without noticing since we were gabbing the entire time. From the site: Living The Dream... - Sunday, November 24, 2013 (Midland LTVA, Blythe, California)

As I sit in my recliner with a cup of coffee this morning, sunshine is breaking through the clouds and streaming through the window beside me! It makes it a little hard to see the screen of my laptop...but I'm not complaining...come on sunshine!!We did a little work this morning...Steve washed the outside of the trailer windows while I did the dishes and cleaned up inside. Then he unloaded the ATVs while I washed the windows inside. With that done, we loaded the garbage and recycling onto our quads and headed to the garbage bins near the entrance. On our way, we stopped to talk with Ann and Armand who were on their way to see us. They welcomed us back and invited us down to their place for happy hour this afternoon. After dropping the garbag ...Read more...

From the site: Nomadic Jesters - Posting 43 Days of "Blog Love": Day 5 ~ "Sun Dragon Adventures" ~

Awhile back we were driving to California for a job. On the way we stopped to visit some new friends that we hadn't yet met. Apparently there was this mother who was converting a school bus into an RV and she needed help to do the electrical so I got recruited to do it. We got to Salt Lake City, Utah, and went to Danni Carlsen's house. The next day we got to work. I was given an electrical plan drawn on a piece of paper with colored markers.  My first thought was "you got to be kidding," then as I looked closer at what she had I realized that she knew what she wanted but not how to draw it to standard plans. The drawing had different shapes and colors and the locations in a way that all I had to do was to figure out the routes. As I we ...Read more...

Bill and I first visited Joshua Tree National Park about five years ago. We were staying in a nearby town and did a day trip into the park.  After that visit, we knew we wanted to come again...and stay longer. When we first began to plan this trip, the forecast looked good.  As our departure date got closer, rain began to show up in the forecast.  With Thanksgiving next week, an RV trip planned in December, and winter quickly approaching, we realized this may be our last chance for a tent-camping trip.  So, on Wednesday morning, off we went.  It was pretty much a straight shot...head west on I-10 until you reach the park.  (Jerry and Kim...we waved as we drove by.)We kept hoping maybe the weatherman got it ...Read more...

Advanture Trek - Pine Creek Canyon, Zion National Park

From the site: Advanture Trek - Pine Creek Canyon, Zion National Park

Click to view slideshow. Hauntingly beautiful. Descend into sculpted chocolate-toned chunks of curving rock. Tune up your rope skills on 2 easy rappels. Then, tread carefully to the exposed third set of bolts. Clip in, get your feet out, and get ready to swing. The third rappel descends into a rock cathedral with a chilly spring-fed pool at the bottom. There’s usually a dead goat or deer in the water here. The poor creatures get swept into the canyons when it floods. Hike out and dry off. Then, come to a log fall that can be rapelled or down climbed. The canyon opens up after this. This is a good place to warm up in the sun. Another rappel brings you to the grand finale: a 100 ft free hanging rappel into a rock cathedral ...Read more...

Wheeling It - The Wonderfully Crazy Desert…

From the site: Wheeling It - The Wonderfully Crazy Desert…

Having  churned your brains to mush with some heavy posts on health and medical, I figured I would allow you a reprieve with some light and easy stuff today. After all Paul is away, the mouse is all alone and you know what I’m like in these circumstances. Much to everyone’s disappointment (I’m sure) I’ve really been rather boring this past week. There have been no trips to the ER (despite this being one of my specialties when Paul is gone), no wardrobe malfunctions in the hot tub (in fact I’m not even on the radar. I’ve been rather outdone by a hot older lady with the body of a 25-year old who parades around in a bright pink bikini..even the local teenagers are riveted) and no crazy attempts to do we ...Read more...

WatsonsWander - Exploring and working fulltime from our Airstream - Weekend Fun

From the site: WatsonsWander - Exploring and working fulltime from our Airstream - Weekend Fun

Weekend fun!!! Since our first week at Lake Mead was fairly anti-climatic, we decided to get out and find some adventure over the weekend. First up – a bike ride on the historic railroad tunnels trail. The ~5 mile roundtrip trail travels along an old railroad route that dates back to the 1930s. This track was used for several years during the construction of the Hoover Dam for hauling equipment and supplies. Today the route has become a very popular hiking/biking trail that offers up stunning views of Lake Mead. Besides the lake views, the main attraction of the trail are five large railroad tunnels carved into the cliffs. It was a great trail for biking with a hard packed, smooth surface that was wide enough for walkers and bike ...Read more...

David with RVRoof.com asked that we be ready to back into the service bay at 9:00.  No problem. In fact, we were up early, and I went out and bought parts for our water heater. This is the E.C.O. and thermostat sensor kit.     This is a cut-off kit with two fuses in the pack.  We only needed one.     According to the video I posted the other day, and the instructions from the Camping World tech, it looked so simple, I thought we'd just install them after we backed the rig into the bay.       We unhitched, and I went up on our new rear ladder to take photos of our roof - the "before" shots.
