Over the last many years when we lived in Fairfax, VA we passed the signs to the Woodrow Wilson Birthplace many times.Yesterday we drove about 45 miles from our KOA Campsite in Charlottesville to see it.We decided a few years ago that we wanted to see all the Presidential Museums and Libraries and birthplaces etc throughout the country.  It was well worth the trip.The site is small but it has a lot of interesting things about it.  The birthplace home is where you get your $12 tickets and see the 10 minute over view movie. We were a little disappointed the Presidential  Museum pass we bought at the Reagan Library last fall in California did not work here.  Different group or foundation or network or something.  Still ...Read more...

We're back "on-line"...however, it is going to be short lived, so I'd better get this update done! The areas that we are visiting so far don't have any cell or internet signals...not a great start to my plan of getting back to daily blogs!As I mentioned at the end of my last post, we spent a good portion of Thursday morning at Starbucks in Chilliwack so that I could hastily put together a blog post. Prior to getting to Starbucks, we stopped and fueled up with diesel, filled the gas containers and got propane. After we pulled out of Baxter Springs, Kansas, we drove through the lovely green of spring in the southeastern part of the state,  and drove northwest.We stopped up on the northern border of Kansas, and took a tour at Peterson Industries; they build Excel Fifth Wheels.  Their Wild Cargo toy hauler is the RV that we would like to get next!                 We had been waiting all week for a clear day to drive up to Hurricane Ridge to see the mountain peaks.  It seemed like no matter what the sky was like in Port Angeles – clear or cloudy – the peaks were always covered by clouds.  On Saturday, we finally gave up and decided to just make the drive up to the ridge and see what we could see. Do you know that radar that all mothers seem to have that alerts them when their kids are getting into mischief and need stopped? I’m pretty sure Greg White has it. Our Winnebago Ultimate Advantage has one fuel tank that can be filled from either side of the motorhome. At some point before we bought it, somebody changed the lock on one of the fuel doors which resulted in them having two different keys. And it always seemed like every time I pulled up to a fuel island I grabbed the wrong key. It wasn’t a huge issue, just one of those minor little irritants that make life frustrating.   It started raining last night and continued off and on all night and all day. We left about 9:20 this morning and thankfully it was not raining for the guys to break camp and get hooked up. It rained for most of our travel, but I was able to get a few scenic pictures. We traveled South about 131 miles on the George Parks Scenic Byway. We arrived at Trapper Creek Inn about 11:50 and got set-up. None of us had eaten lunch so Janet made cheese tortellini with sun dried tomato sauce, mixed vegetables and garlic bread for early dinner. Once we were all feeling satisfied we decided to take a ride to Talkteena which was about 28 miles away. It was a bunch of shops and eateries. Well, they said it couldn't be done but "they" were wrong and we were on that 9:00 a.m. shuttle and on our way into downtown. We really, really like a park that has some kind of shuttle service. It costs $7 each, one way so it was a total of $28 for return back to the park. They have about 5 daily departures from the park and about 4 return times. Where are we today ? Galvin Bay resort Buckhorn Ontario        Now we are settled in here for maybe a couple weeks, until the hitch itch grabs us and we need to wander on down the road again. Great nights sleep windows open, the tornadoes that passed thru the area missed us, just a bit of rain and wind no big deal here.       Walkabouts the resort here this morning showing again some of the nice carvings they have had done with trees that were removed.        Then into Buckhorn just to check out a few things.
