Family Motor Coach Association’s 90th Family Reunion and Motorhome Showcase runs today through Aug. 16, 2014, in the Deschutes County Fair and Expo Center in Redmond, Oregon, in the shadow of the Three Sisters Mountains. “Approximately 2,000 motorhomes and some 6,000 people are expected to come together for this fun-filled event, which has been dubbed ‘High Desert Sunrise’ in honor of the host area,” according to Pamela Kay director of communications for FMCA. July, 2014 – Our stay in eastern Oregon had been truly blissful but, as had been predicted due to the ultra dry conditions, this summer was proving to be a terrible one for wildfires in both Oregon and Washington. A wildfire in central Washington had grown to 400 square miles. That’s 20 miles by 20 miles, or 80 miles if you drive around the outer edge of the fire. Holy smokes! Welcome to Shoshone, Idaho! Bill and Jan RVing the USA - What's a half foot of rain look like?

From the site: Bill and Jan RVing the USA - What's a half foot of rain look like?

Monroe, MichiganHarbortown RV ResortBack in #129We pulled out of Lima yesterday around 11 am.  It was raining in the morning and I think there were only 4 rigs left in the park.  A Montana owner a few sites down from us who we hadn't talked to, pulled out and waved to us.  He said, "It looks like it's going to be a good day."  Normally, we would have extended our stay, but we had made a weekly reservation and were meeting John and Karen Knoll.  It was only 100 miles away.  What a long 100 miles that was. We drove through record breaking rainfall.  The rain came down so hard and there was no where to pull over in all the traffic. We saw a red truck towing a Montana Fifth wheel, tuck in behind us through Tol ...Read more...

Ray and Cindy's RV Travels - Must Have Been Cleaning and Repair Day

From the site: Ray and Cindy's RV Travels - Must Have Been Cleaning and Repair Day

Contoocook, New Hampshire High 79 Low 64This morning was so nice that I decided to wash the truck and camper. We have had to park under trees for a while and I didn't like all the junk on the truck and roof of the trailer. They both look a lot better now. Only thing, I don't know whether the truck and trailer or if I got the wettest. After washing them, it was time to change out our shower valve. The original leaked forever and I changed it while we were in Wisconsin, but I couldn't get the valve like the original. Originally it was a bronze color and all I was able to get was white. The valves on the white one screwed out to turn on, rather than 1/4 turn from on to off. We were finally able to get the correct one at Camping World on the way ...Read more...

From the site: Living The Dream... - Saturday and Sunday, August 9 and 10, 2014 (Tunkwa Lake Campground, Tunkwa Provincial Park, Logan La

Well, if you've been following our blog and noticed a flurry of updates, then you will know what we did today. Yes, we drove into Logan Lake and I sat in the hotel coffee shop for about 3 hours using their internet.Steve dropped me off just before 10:30 and I went in to get started while he went to get propane, beer and fresh water. A short while later, he joined me...and there we sat until almost 2:00! We did have lunch there, though.Back home, I resumed my spot in my chair outside reading...Steve pulled out one of his magazines and did a little reading too. Then he brought out the bedroom TV and we sat outside again watching the evening news.We had a light dinner outside and as the evening progressed, Steve decided to bring out the Camp F ...Read more...

RV Tire Safety - How do I inspect my tires?

From the site: RV Tire Safety - How do I inspect my tires?

Got an email the other day asking about inspecting tires. This blog and many others will tell you that you should do a thorough inspection annually and doing the inspection becomes more important as times goes on.The problem is, few know even the basics of proper tire inspection. For some it's only looking at the tread to be sure there is some tread pattern available. Others will bend at the waist and look at one sidewall to inspect for large cracks.Well, sorry to say that doing a proper tire inspection is a lot more involved. You will need to get down on the ground, you will get your hands dirty and you will need a good bright work light. A dim, old style flash light doesn't provide either enough light or uniform lighting to allow a good v ...Read more...

Cheap RV Living.com - A Couple in a Van: Building the Bed

From the site: Cheap RV Living.com - A Couple in a Van: Building the Bed

This is the bed laid out for sleeping. Notice that it is blocking the bottom two drawers from opening. This will be the final post on how we converted Judy’s van for two people and I’m going to cover how we built the bed. But first I’m going to remind you about the recliner we built for it because I consider it to be indispensable for a couple in a van. Today, I’m just going to briefly touch it because I already did a full post on it here: http://www.cheaprvliving.com/blog/creating-recliner-storage-area-front-seats-van/. We originally planned this as a place to give us more storage and a place for Homer to ride while we drove… Making it was very simple. We had some scrap 3/4 inch plywoo ...Read more...
