GoneByRV - Our Last Hike in Glacier NP

From the site: GoneByRV - Our Last Hike in Glacier NP

Posted from Post Falls, ID     (Click on Pics to Enlarge)Don't forget to click here to take a look at MANY additional pictures in our Google+ album for the Siyeh Pass Hike.TrailheadOur last hike in Glacier National Park was also our longest and most strenuous.  I'm sure that diehard hikers regularly make hikes of this distance, but for us, it was our longest ever.  We hiked the Siyeh Pass Trail, a distance of 10.3 miles from the trailhead at Piegan Pass to the end at Sunrift Gorge.  The distance really wasn't so bad, but the ascent from the start to the pass gains 2240 feet, then descends 3440 feet to the terminus of the trail at the Going to the Sun Road.We hadn't hiked too far before it was apparent that ...Read more...

Running Away with Doug and Nancy - White Rock BC to Whistler BC (172 Kms=107 Miles)

From the site: Running Away with Doug and Nancy - White Rock BC to Whistler BC (172 Kms=107 Miles)

Love this drive up to Whistler. It isn't very far so you are there before you know it. Travelling on the legendary "Sea to Sky" highway is a breeze, especially since all the improvements were done for the 2010 Olympics. We did find it a "little" humorous that it has been warm and sunny for nearly a month now and we are camping and it is now raining!!  Nice and tidy and a beautiful bathroom building just at the end of this road.Cost is $47.70 per night with our BCAA discount. We booked in the fall as it is a pretty popular spot in the summer, especially with Crankworx here too!!Small sites but super nice. They do their best to match the length of your vehicle with a corresponding site. You don't get a lot of extra length but th ...Read more...

In the Direction of Our Dreams - Walking the Oregon Trail

From the site: In the Direction of Our Dreams - Walking the Oregon Trail

Tuesday Evening August 5, 2014Robidoux RV ParkGering, Nebraska    We take the scenic drive to the top of Scott’s Bluff first.   Although storm clouds are brewing, the haze of this morning is gone and I almost wish we had done the Saddle Rock Trail hike this evening instead for the clearer views.  But we’ll drive up to the top so we’ll see the views from there just not from each level as we we did this morning.  There are no turn outs on this drive unfortunately.     They close the gate to the drive up at 5:30.  You have to be back down by 6:00 when the entire drive up and down is closed, at least to cars.  We saw a group of bicyclists gathering around the gate for what looked l ...Read more...

How I Wrecked My Life | How I Wrecked My Life - Life Gets In The Way of Life

From the site: How I Wrecked My Life | How I Wrecked My Life - Life Gets In The Way of Life

I was recently reminded that any lifestyle can turn mundane.  Living in an RV isn’t special.  Living in an RV is only special when people who don’t live in an RV find out!  As humans we have a large capacity for taking any given outrageous circumstance and turning it normal. If we do something awesome on a regular basis, we forget we are doing something awesome!  We discount our accomplishements very quickly! Did you just run a marathon?  Awesome!  Help me mow the yard! We are a “What have you done lately” kind of people. Great accomplishments are not celebrated very long. Many of the commandments in the Bible are God forcing people to celebrate! God demands we celebrate!  He ...Read more...

From the site: OUR NEWELL ADVENTURE - TVC Office - Day # 21 - And then there were 21...

Our 21st day working in the TVC office, and only 21 more days until we roll the Newell wheels once again......TLE's day in the TVC office started 2 hours before mine at 7:30 am.  This was her final training day to learn how to "open" the office.  I will join her next Monday when we take over Bill and Debby's Monday through Wednesday shift, but for now my shift starts at 9:30 am.   We are kind of in that period just before Labor Day when things quiet down for a week, or so, and then go crazy again up until the day after Labor Day.  Tuesday was one of the easiest days we've spent in the TVC office since we started on July 3rd.Tuesday was also the day our friends Brian and Maria (The Roaming Pint) arrived in their class C m ...Read more...

Rob and Me in our Little RV - Rugged Beauty and a Costly Mistake

From the site: Rob and Me in our Little RV - Rugged Beauty and a Costly Mistake

The weather yesterday was absolutely beautiful.  The sky was blue and the water was even deeper blue.  Lake SuperiorIt is hard to imagine how big Superior is until you see it.  The waves come into the beach like small ocean waves and you can't see to the other side.  We took a short drive yesterday to check out the area.  Public Beach at Two HarborsWe drove north to the small town of Two Harbors where they have a full hook-up municipal RV park just across the street from a public beach. Those lucky folks have great views!  Two Harbors LighthouseWe stumbled across this lighthouse in Two Harbors as well.  Shortly after leaving the lighthouse we got a call from the Ford service garage telling us what is wrong ...Read more...
