And then, the weirdest thing happened... We're sitting there finishing our tacos when we hear a sound. We all hear it at the same time. It was like a high pitched call but with a deep resonance. We scanned the horizon and there, silhouetted against fading sun were the dorsal fins of four orca whales. At first, we only saw two, but then another two tiny fins (babies!) surfaced beside the adults. We stood up to get a better look and heard the call again, this time clearly coming from the small family unit of whales. As we looked at each other in disbelief, they called again and began swimming slowly, adults in the middle and babies on then side, towards us on the beach, the largest orca lifting his nose above the water every few feet to renew ...Read more...

We last visited Santa Fe, NM in May 2013, for a week. This time we chose to spend a week on the edge of town at Santa Fe Skies RV Park. Less than a mile from Santa Fe Skies is Santa Fe Brewing Company AND we arrived on a Wednesday which happened to be $2 pint day!!!!The State Pen Porter was delicious!Santa Fe has a variety of local trails to hike, beautiful neighborhoods to walk, and many cultural and historical sights to see. That was toward the end of March, just one day before they were leaving Yuma for their home in “a little place” named Elliot Lake, Ontario, Canada. (More about that later.) SOME DAYS ARE JUST MORE SNOOZIER THAN OTHERS AROUND OUR HOUSE No. 1 - I’m thinking it was in Colorado somewhere a month ago on our journey home that I heard a sharp snap on our rig’s windshield as a passing truck went by.  Later noticed a stone chip high up on the driver’s side.  No. 2 – Started up the rig’s generator a couple days ago, it ran for about 15 seconds then shut down.  That is designed to happen if an RV’s gas tank is down to a quarter.  Prevents a generator from running an RV’s gas tank dry.  Checked our gas tank & it was just below half.  Oh-Oh.  No. 3 – Had forgot to plug the Big EEE into electricity & noticed our solar batteries wer ...Read more...
