Man In The Maze - A slow roam through Kansas

From the site: Man In The Maze - A slow roam through Kansas

It wasn’t long ago that I wrote the advice to aspiring Airstreamers that they should “make a [trip] plan, then plan to change it.”  That’s exactly what we’ve done, and it has worked out nicely. In the previous blog entry I noted that we were watching the storms in Colorado and trying to time our arrival to miss the rain.  But once we got onto the road in Missouri (departing Stevyn & Troy’s place) Eleanor suggested we just slow down and forget all the interim goals I had in mind.  I thought about it for a moment as we were chugging west on I-70, then agreed.  We would just take it one day at a time. This led to another decision: forget about Colorado this time.  The rain on the ...Read more...

I love this hemmed in hollow of a path leading out to Ecola State Park.My first view of Cannon BeachA local Cannon Beach brewery where I tried the Blackberry BeautyI drove on over to Astoria to check out a couple more breweries. I decided to keep it to a light sampler of three with a cuppa soup here. If you didn’t already guess which beers I chose, I sampled the porter, stout, and oatmeal creations. Here we have some interesting and very impressive bathroom art depicting an old western theme that I thought was definitely pic worthy.Wet Dog Cafe and Brewery aka Astoria Brewing Co Check out this brewery’s great view ...Read more...

News from Travels with Dave and Elaine Violette - Hungry Horse

From the site: News from Travels with Dave and Elaine Violette - Hungry Horse

Hungry Horse MT After we decided to cut our Yellowstone NP and Grand Teton NP visit short we had some "extra" time in our schedule, so we decided to take in Glacier National Park and neighboring Waterton Lakes National Park in Canada. I have seen both from the east side but never the west, and Elaine has never seen either. I carefully checked using Verizon's service map and Google Earth and determined we were likely to have good satellite TV reception in all four stops we will make and good Verizon data coverage in the two US stops. Here's our Lot 12 in Mountain Meadow RV Park. Lots of trees around. ...Read more...

Cheap RV Living - A Peeping Tom? Yep, You Meet Some Wild Turkeys In Montana

From the site: Cheap RV Living - A Peeping Tom? Yep, You Meet Some Wild Turkeys In Montana

Do you ever feel like someone is watching you through your rv window? Well we had that feeling…and it turned out to be… A PEEPING TOM!! Notice our window thermometer in the bottom, right corner of the photo above…yes, I was at the kitchen table, on the inside of the 5th wheel – and Mr. Freaky Wild Montana Turkey was staring right at me. Now, let’s go back in time that day, just a little bit. Why did I find the turkey a bit “off” and intimidating? Does it seem odd I would fear the wild turkey? Well, the morning started off like any other morning. Hannah (rv dog) was outside, enjoying the fresh air. Then an unruly gang of six wild Montana turkeys showed up. We were inside having coffee, but her ba ...Read more...

Weaselmouth - Wells Gray Provincial Park, British Columbia

From the site: Weaselmouth - Wells Gray Provincial Park, British Columbia

Out of the two weeks on the road, Deke and I had two days by ourselves. Friday we left Laura, Kevin and Kyle and headed south on 5 to the town of Clearwater then north to Wells Gray Provincial Park — a beautiful place with everything you could want. There are several lakes (Clearwater Lake): waterfalls (Helmcken and Dawson): historical homesteads (The Ray Family Homestead): Marilyn Monroe look-alikes (we saw this one twice): places to take guided horse rides: and what appeared to be one of the most remote campgrounds I’ve ever seen about 50 km down this road: There are 4 boat in only campgrounds at the end of the road, and 3 RV campgrounds (here’s a photo of one of the spots in Falls Creek Campground) – and a ...Read more...

OUR NEWELL ADVENTURE - Loose ends.....

From the site: OUR NEWELL ADVENTURE - Loose ends.....

With our departure date for Sidney, MT moved up a couple of days Saturday was a day to begin tying up loose ends.  I had sold my Burley Nomad bicycle trailer via Ebay almost 3 weeks ago, and the buyer had not yet picked it up.  Part of the delay was our problem as we were out of town 10 of those days, which combined with the work schedule of the buyer made it difficult to find a time and place to make the exchange (trailer for the purchase price), but Saturday morning at 9 am was the finally agreed upon exchange time.  I would drive into Liberty Lake to the CampingWorld  located just off I-90 to meet John, the buyer. The Burley Nomad....we had a lot of good times togetherAfter completing Friday's blog entry I put the ...Read more...
