How I Wrecked My Life | How I Wrecked My Life - RV Disaster in Progress

From the site: How I Wrecked My Life | How I Wrecked My Life - RV Disaster in Progress

So the past week RV life has been a bit crazy. For starters it is Christmas. Christmas can be terrible if you work at a church like I do. That means lots of OT, volunteers who can’t commit to helping, and of course, the icy cold of winter. Last week Tracy discovered that we had water on the floor next to the sink every time we did dishes. At first we assumed we were just slopping more water than usual. A few days later the puddle began to get bigger on a regular basis. Enter our new friend Mr. B. Mr. B is an amazing volunteer at our church who was also a RV tech in the past. After talking with Tracy they figured out that our faucet had somehow imploded and the leak was from the faucet internals failing. A $20 trip to the ReStore and ...Read more...

On the Road of Retirement - Settling in at our site in Bonita Springs FL…

From the site: On the Road of Retirement - Settling in at our site in Bonita Springs FL…

We have been back in Bonita Springs for nearly 10 days now and the time has been going by rather quickly. Sharon expressed her feelings about returning in the last blog and most of which I tend to agree with. However, I am not as convinced as she that this may be our part of our eventual exit plan from full timing. I will admit there are a lot of very positive attributes most of which is the wintertime weather. While much of the country has been in the deep freeze here in the southern reaches of Florida the temperatures have been consistently in the eighties with the seven day forecast showing much of the same. The picture of the USA map was sent to me from a friend in Texas and looking at where we wintered a month last year it shows 43&nb ...Read more...

Gone With The Wynns - Behind The Scenes: Louisville RV Show

From the site: Gone With The Wynns - Behind The Scenes: Louisville RV Show

When we were invited to the exclusive Industry Only RV Show in Louisville Kentucky we didn’t know what to expect.  Would this RV show be a whole lotta more of the same, or would it be like an auto show full of futuristic RV concepts?  To be perfectly honest it was neither…well…sort of…let me explain. The RV show is loaded with vendors (lights, water pumps…), RV mfrs (looking to sell to dealers), pipe dreamers (great idea but no where near ready), and the occasional sales rep looking for a new job! First and foremost we had the opportunity to meet our […] ...Read more...

Aluminarium - Moldy Window Sills

From the site: Aluminarium - Moldy Window Sills

Recently, when I pulled the curtains in our Airstream all the way open, I found more than just dust, there was mold. A lot of moisture accumulates around the edges of the windows from condensation, so it’s not a big surprise, it’s just something we don’t want to sleep next to. The plastic material has never taken to a simple wipe down with a paper towel. For some reason the dust that accumulates there pills up when you use a cloth or a paper towel. The sills cleaned up nicely with the scrubby side of an old sponge. Gross, right? I wonder if there are any other places we should be looking for mold. Dinner Last Night: I had some leftover Erewhon Corn Flakes, so I went back to the Attune Foods Blog and found Creamy and C ...Read more...

OUR NEWELL ADVENTURE - SD - Day # 6

From the site: OUR NEWELL ADVENTURE - SD - Day # 6

Tuesday morning I helped TLE open the Kiosk as the usual, iniquitous 6:30 in the am, and around 9 am, as soon as I was sure it was going to be a quiet mornin,g I headed into Upland to pick up the 1988 Jeep Wrangler YJ to drive over to Joel's Automotive in the same city to have it checked out mechanically.  It was still in the low 40's, so I was glad to find out the heater worked just fine.  I also noticed the gas gauge was reading near empty so decided to stop and put in 9 gallons.....I was so sure it would check out mechanically (why, I don't know), and I would need to fill it up anyway to drive it "home"......plus I wanted to be sure the gauge was working, and found out soon enough it was.  Joel assigned Art, one of his top ...Read more...

From the site: Living The Dream... - Tuesday, December 10, 2013 (La Posa South LTVA, Quartzsite, AZ)

We woke to the coldest morning so far...24F/-4C...I think that it is supposed to gradually start warming up, I hope the weather forecasters are right...we're ready for some warmth! With the cold temps overnight, the furnace ran a lot keeping Steve awake, so he didn't get a very good night's sleep...for a change, I didn't seem to have too much trouble...we sure are looking forward to our new propane heater! It is scheduled to be in Quartzsite tomorrow. At about 10:30, we headed out for a walk...it was pretty darned chilly! After a brisk walk, we were back 35 minutes later...that's enough for now!We gathered the empty water jugs and headed into Quartzsite to refill them. This time we decided to also fill our 2 five gallon containers. After that ...Read more...

the Amazing Vanstones - Beach Bums

From the site: the Amazing Vanstones - Beach Bums

Anna Maria Beach I’m sure faithful readers will agree; we don’t often miss an opportunity to walk a beach and yesterday was a perfect day and a perfect beach. With a mid morning temperature in the mid 80′s we arrive at Anna Maria beach on Anna Maria Island to walk the soft white sugar sand and dip our toes in the warm Gulf coast waters. The beach was busy already with even a few girls under the umbrellas  in bikinis to brighten a fellas day. After our walk we stopped for lunch at a highly recommended beach restaurant and shared a salad and an order of scallops. While the lunch was both delicious, huge and a great value, it also came with some great entertainment. At the table next to us sat two local very senior coupl ...Read more...
