I recently came across a slick trick to clean my shower-door track. I use a sponge paintbrush (available at paint or hardware stores). I spray the brush with Clorox 2 and then use the foam portion of the brush to rub down the tracks. I then give the tracks a quick rinse and dry with a paper towel. Today we traveled to Independence, MO, to visit the home of Harry and Bess Truman. The home they lived in before, during, and after the White House is located at 219 N. Delaware in a residential neighborhood near town. The Visitor Center is located 5 blocks east of the house on Main Street.The interior of the house (first floor only) can only be seen with a guided tour provided by a park ranger. The cost is $5/adult but there is no cost if you have a National Park Senior Pass (which we do). The tours are normally held every half hour, depending on demand and tickets must be acquired at the Visitor Center.   On Saturday we drove 6 miles up Kebler Pass Road from Crested Butte to Irwin Lake campground for the western (easier) approach to Scarp Ridge. With six people we needed to take two cars, which worked out well since Chuck, Carla and Debbie hiked two miles to a lovely basin, and Chris, Jim and I continued on another mile or so up to the ridge. The trail is really a rocky jeep road for over two miles but fortunately we were only passed by a few vehicles. It’s a fairly steep climb up the road where we passed a couple houses, waterfalls, and lots of flowers. Prepared for the winter. As Sunday began I realized we had just 4 days left in our working sojourn here at TVC, and as I write we only have Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday remaining.....on Sunday we had 100 departures and just 12 arrivals.......our "Who's In The Park" report showed just 179 sites occupied......so, all that being said, it should have been a very easy day, and it was.  All of my departures with one exception were gone before noon time, and once again it is eerily quiet in section 'E' by the end of business.  TLE continues to improve day by day, and is has been easy for her to leave the office early the past two days as it has been so quiet, and Sunday was no exception as she clocked out at 1400 hours.We continue to experience very cold night ...Read more...

Davenport, IA After a long drive from Indianapolis, we finally crossed the Mississippi into Iowa, our first time in the state with the motorhome. We drove south about seventeen miles along the west bank of the river to an Army Corps of Engineer Park, Shady Creek Recreation Area, where we will stay for the next few days while we visit the Quad Cities (Moline and Rock Island, IL and Davenport and Bettendorf, IA). The Mississippi is lined with small COE (Corps of Engineers) Parks, and Shady Creek is one of the nicest, with electricity and paved sites.  Some, including ours, have a decent view of the river.
