Ever since I saw thisRichard Misrach exhibition, I’ve wanted to see the Bonneville Salt Flats, so that was a non-negotiable stop on our trip. Who knew I’d also have an Airstream when I got there….Photo by Richard Misrach, 1992.The Salt Flats are 30,000 acres of 90% table salt, famously known as a backdrop for movies and land speed races. Deke just wanted to take the Airstream out on them.Ok, let’s take it out.Stay off the mud-salt combo.There are some warning signs to stay off the mud — or risk getting stuck, so we stayed on the salty part.
