On Friday, we drove 2 hours north from Pismo Beach to Kirk Creek Campground which is just south of Big Sur. Kirk Creek has a mix of reservation sites and first come first serve sites. We knew we would have to get there early since it was the beginning of the weekend. We arrived at 11:30am and got lucky and snagged the very last site available. Kirk Creek is a National Forest Campground that doesn’t have any hookups or water available on site. Camping costs $25/night. The night before we left, we discovered that we were around the corner from ocean view free camping.
