Since the Yellowstone region was named the first national park in 1872, people have travelled to see the wonders of erupting geysers, mudpots, boiling lakes, rivers,waterfalls, canyons, meadows, and wildlife. This historic center captures the story of journeys to and through the region.Established in 1908. West Yellowstone's purpose was to serve visitors to Yellowstone National Park.
