The trail runs along the Ohio River, passing through downtown Wheeling. The scenery is varied, at times hugging the river, other times traveling beside roadways or skirting industrial areas. We followed the trail for a short distance by parking along the Route 2 about 1 1/2 miles north of town and walking/rolling south to downtown. Watch for interpretive signs for a quick history of the area.The trail has a good view of the Wheeling Suspension Bridge, the first bridge to be built across the Ohio River and the oldest vehicular suspension bridge in the United States still in use.
