It’s sometimes difficult to come up with blog content, so I’m splitting Saturday’s activities into 2 posts. After we visited the 17 Palms Oasis, we headed over to the Pumpkin Patch. The “pumpkins” are actually formations called concretions. According to the sign, “these concretions have slowly emerged from the sand, while remaining stationary, and have been rounded by the wind.” Another sign said “like real pumpkins they started with a seed and grew season by season with layer upon layer of sticky deposited river sediment.” While we were there, 2 guys and 3 kids showed up on their 4 wheelers.
