"I think I climb mountains because I get a great deal of enjoyment out of it. I get satisfaction out of overcoming some challenge which is difficult… perhaps maybe a little dangerous." Edmund HillaryThere are times when I need to go to the mountains alone, someplace I have to work at to get to… break a sweat, heave for air. There is spiritual/emotional magic when one combines mountains and aloneness, it clears the head, resets priorities and perspectives, and diminishes woes. Mountains are impartial; they don't care. Mountains could give a rats ass about our egos… our laughable self-assigned significance, our silly little problems, or even if we fall to our death. It happens all the time—a ...Read more...

Life's Little Adventures - If The Spirit Moves You

From the site: Life's Little Adventures - If The Spirit Moves You

And it did early Saturday morning as some of the gang piled into our Subaru for a drive towards Red Mountain Pass and a hike to Spirit Basin. Mark dropped off his truck about three miles before we came to the trail so we could make a loop and not have to walk along the road another three miles back to our car. It was a great idea as about the last four miles of our nearly seven mile hike were all down hill. The trail actually started off fairly level, and included a creek crossing. Then it climbed to remnants of an old mine. Then we made a steep climb into Spirit Basin, a beautiful area full of wildflowers. We stopped for a break and a snack. Then Joalenn decided she wanted her picture taken in the flowers, which led ...Read more...

From the site: DitchingSuburbia.com Blog - How Do Fulltime RVers Do Laundry?

Written by Crissa Boyink in The RVIn our Sticks-n-Bricks house I had a washer and dryer. Each bedroom had it’s own dirty laundry basket. My laundry table contained large containers of laundry soap, fabric softener, dryer sheets, bleach, stain sticks, and hydrogen peroxide. I divided all the clothing by color and material type. I did a load or two a day. Laundry was no big deal. Then we moved into a 5th wheel trailer. It didn’t come with a washer and dryer. We have a lot less storage for dirty clothes and supplies. We can’t do laundry every day, yet have fewer clothes to wear & less bedding and towels. So how does laundry work for a fulltime RV family? Some of the most unique experiences you could hope to encounter can be found in this area of the Great Lakes state. The National Cherry Festival draws hundreds of thousands of visitors every year, and the Arnold Palmer designed and named “The Bear” golf course gets its fair share of visitors. This was a first for us.  It was super hot Friday, so for our "longer" walk we waited until it was almost dark to get out the stroller and walk around the campground.  We were walking along the paved road and passed something on the inside edge of the pavement.  I stopped and backed up, saying to myself, "It looks like a large, fat lizard.  Darn, I didn't bring my camera!"  I wondered if it had been run over because it wasn't moving.  It was dark enough that I couldn't see the critter clearly, just an outline, barely, and it looked to be just sitting there, about a foot long and fat in the middle.  I was thinking, a big lizard that just had a meal.I got closer, maybe three feet away, and started to lean do ...Read more...

If you haven’t seen wakeboarding, you’ve missed some exciting water sport action. With about 50 sites operating in the United States, finding a wakeboarding location isn’t always easy. But we recently found one right next door to our RV Park. So what exactly is this sport? In 1959, Bruno Rixen invented a the activity in Germany that came to be known as cable wakeboarding. It would eventually spread worldwide, particularly in Europe. This sport is a way to ski from a rope and handle pulled by an electrically powered cable rather than the more familiar version behind a motorboat.
