TRAVEL WITH THE BAYFIELD BUNCH:)) - WELL, WE UP & BOUGHT OURSELVES A LITTLE SOMETHING THIS MORNING:))

From the site: TRAVEL WITH THE BAYFIELD BUNCH:)) - WELL, WE UP & BOUGHT OURSELVES A LITTLE SOMETHING THIS MORNING:))

Had ourselves a ripping cold East wind on our walk despite temperatures being above freezing. We also had sunshine & sunshine always works well for a drive on a cold windy day. And it was a drive we decided to do this morning after reaching a decision to go have ourselves a look at something about 2 hours south-east of Bayfield. LEFT PHOTO BEDROOM SLIDE OUT…RIGHT PHOTO LIVING & DINING ROOM SLIDE IN & DRIVERS DOOR HAS A POWER WINDOWA few days ago while Kelly was going through a bunch of 'RV's For Sale' something of interest caught her attention & when I looked at the ad it caught my interest too. Tuesday April 15, 2014Stephen Foster Folk Culture Center State ParkWhite Springs, Florida   TUESDAY  APRIL 15   We got the brake lights fixed but then Mother Nature throws us another curve. We had planned to pull out of our site today and move on to Walkabout in Georgia for a few days to try again for a visit to Cumberland Island National Seashore.   But the rains start coming down seriously at about 6am and the weather forecast changes to Thunderstorms and 25-30mph winds all day long.   Not my idea of traveling weather so since we don’t have any deadline to be anywhere we just stay put and work on the accounts, the blog, reading and napping.   I also spend time getting a map together of t ...Read more...

When we pull into our driveway in Cool, California on Thursday, we will have been on the road for 106 days for our Winter trip.  This trip only involves time in Southern California and Western Arizona and covered about 2,400 miles. SO CAL -- AGAIN Unless we are doing the Pacific Northwest or traveling the Midwest to the East Coast, our journey to the Southwest takes us through the Coachella Valley near Palm Springs both coming and going.  Our stay this year on our way home was at the Sands RV & Golf Resort in Desert Hot Springs.  We have stayed here a few times and have dealt with their narrow spaces. From the site: It's about time. - Big Surprises.

Our Location today is Tecumseh, Ontario, Canada.Last night was definitely a change of how we’ve been sleeping throughout this past winter and spring. Even when we were in Wapakoneta, Ohio at the KOA not only did we run both of our ceramic heaters in the trailer but we also had to run the furnace. When we got up and turned on the Weather Channel it showed a temperature of 28 F (-2 C) at 7:00 this morning for that area. Like I said last night we weren’t sure where we’d be tonight and if we decided to arrive home today we wouldn’t be in a hurry to hit the road. While having our breakfast we made the call that instead of freezing another night in the trailer we’d have to suffer in our heated apartment. Wi ...Read more...

A lot I guess—around every corner today you would find us saying, “Wow, can you believe this, how lucky are we” and any other manner of descriptive phrases.  It started out as a cool, cloudy day and remained so until we rolled back into camp when the sun popped out.  We were dressed for the coolness—in the photos you will see the cowboy and me in our former motorcycle gear—leather chaps and jackets—it fits the bill, we were never cold while riding. Moab is breathtakingly beautiful, awesome, spectacular, giant country—around every corner is another glorious view, another red, towering rock.  The town of Moab was a zoo of jeeps yesterday, seems we’ve arrived during a yearly jeepi ...Read more...

Just a little bit cooler here in Charleston, S.C. than we were used to in Frostproof. It was only in the high 50's here today, but the sun was out all day, so that helped. We spent today touring around Charleston, and this afternoon, we toured Fort Sumter. It is located at the mouth of Charleston Harbour on your way out to the Atlantic Ocean, a very strategic location. It was built by the Federal Government to protect Charleston, which was one of the biggest Cities in the South, and a very important Sea Port, and Commercial Zone. I rented the helicopter again, to take this bird's eye view for you all... no expense spared. This Fort was not built on an island... the built the island for the Fort! Tuesday 4/15/14 was supposed to start out being a rainy morning so when I woke up at 6am and noticed the rain had not started yet I hurried to feed Jack and get his morning walk in before the rain came. It turns out I had plenty of time because it didn’t start raining until around 8. But when it did start it came down in buckets!! I’m happy to say that the window fix worked pretty well because if that window was going to leak it would have done it during this downpour. And it rained pretty solid until around 1. When the rain stopped we jumped in the Jeep and headed to St. George Island. It is surrounded by the Gulf of Mexico and the Apalachicola Bay and at its widest point it’s 1 mile across. RV Boondocking News - The ABCs of deep cycle battery labels

From the site: RV Boondocking News - The ABCs of deep cycle battery labels

My father used to muse, "Love doesn't make the world go round, numbers make the world go round." Well, on a long RV trip, a little lovin' ain't bad, but numbers, sad to say, make much of the RV world go round. And especially is this so when it comes to RV batteries. How long you can keep your electrons flowing is a critical factor in RV trips away from utility hookups. We're often faced with RVers (and others who should know better) spouting off about CCA numbers related to battery capacity. CCA numbers are for "Cold Cranking Amps," and are a measure of the muscle the battery has available for turning over an engine. Repeat after us: "There is no solid relationship between CCA and battery capacity."We know we'll hear of chorus of, "Ah, you' ...Read more...

Grant was the eighteenth president of the United States; born April 27, 1822 to Hannah and Jesse Grant. While visiting Point Pleasant I was able to view the outside of the very home he was born in. The buildings, which include the farm house, general store, hay barn, canning shed and numerous outbuildings, were built between the 1880s and 1945 and allow visitors to experience how farm life has changed through the years. An RVing visit to Roscoe Village in Coshocton Ohio Roscoe Village is known for being an 1830’s canal-town and rightfully so because it is located along what was once know as the Ohio-Erie Canal. Roscoe Village is located in Coshocton County, Ohio on State Route 16. A small yet full of adventure village that makes history come to life with its various festivals, scheduled events and numerous activities. Before I get into great detail about Roscoe Village let me start by saying there is plenty of RV parking. Just head on over to the Visitor’s Center and behind the center is a large area for parking. If you have a small vehicle there is additional parking on the streets of the village and a small parking lot at the end of town. Whi ...Read more...

It wasn’t until I read about it on a few other blogs that I was clued into this gorgeous boondocking opportunity. Things were heating up in the lower desert elevations as we headed back north in April of 2014 so it was a good time to head to the higher elevations and check out the Alabama Hills. Forecasts called for highs of 70-80 degrees and lows around 40, good boondocking temps. As we proceeded up Highway 395 north and approached the Sierra Nevada Mountains I was excited to still see a good snow pack on them. What a gorgeous si ...Read more...
