Our Location today is Valdosta, Georgia.Sorry we missed the post yesterday but it just seemed that if something could delay us it did. We were up at 5:00 Friday morning in hopes of beating the rush but by the time we ate breakfast and loaded everything we were bringing to the trailer we didn’t hit the road until nearly 7:30. When we arrived at the US Customs inspection at the Ambassador Bridge the only ones we’d beaten were the birds because there were eight RVs in line ahead of us. After an hour of waiting to speed the inspection process up they sent a couple of inspectors to do the interior searches of the trailers. Yesterday we went to Airstream Los Angeles to fix the leak in our fresh water tank. It turns out the little part that connects to the tank (pictured on the left) snapped off. Unfortunately a patch wasn’t an option, so we had to replace the entire tank. Lucky for us, they had a spare tank in stock when they originally thought they were going to have to order one. We’ve also had an intermittent problem with our tongue jack. Sometimes it wouldn’t go up, only down. Lisa in Service (pictured above) showed us our burnt fuse-like part which they replaced. Our stay at Beachside State Park lasted only a couple of days as we will need to move on today. We had a few pieces of wood and instead of carrying it around, which you are not suppose to, we had a little morning fire before we left. As some of you might know, we always have bacon in the fridge. I have been known to keep the bacon fat in a bowl or cup after draining it from the pan. It comes in really handy to get a fire going and it also makes the campsite smelling like a breakfast joint. We still have not yet unhitched after 10 days of traveling. About 1pm Jan and I headed out for our 2nd movie day. This time we were going to see Thor: The Dark World. Luckily I have a beautiful wife who likes movies like this just about as much as I do. I mean,two sci-fi movies in two days. We decided to see the 3D version since, 1) the time worked better for us, and 2) the last few 3D movies we’ve seen have been very well done. Something is not jumping out of the screen every 10 seconds like in the past and you don’t spend the entire time dodging arrows and spears. I am still going to attempt to write a daily post of our summer trip to Canada so expect lots of photos and posts to come. Today, we made it to Beachside State Park along the Oregon coast. We got here yesterday and were lucky to score a site that just fits the Airstream and van without sticking out. The marine layer is still thick but we were able to actually see the ocean today when we walked to the beach. We arrived at North Trail RV at 10:00 a.m.   The service area was crowded and we were a little uncomfortable, but our service adviser, Chris, listened to our issue closely.  The furnace blower just wouldn't come on.  We were hoping it was something simple and quick. As it turned out, it was simple and quick.  There was a loose connection up on the roof under the air conditioner shroud.  It was the second time recently that I've heard of something on the roof affecting the operation of the furnace. We wouldn't have known to look there, but we'll know next time and, perhaps, we can correct that ourselves if it happens again. Yesterday, we made some decisions about the next few weeks as far as where we are going stay.  And today, we decided to move on up the Gulf Coast of Florida. We made arrangements to have our furnace looked at in Ft. Myers at North Trail RV on Tuesday morning.  So, we thanked our hostess, Linda, said our goodbyes, and left our south Florida moochdocking location a little before 11:00. After getting holed up in Van Horn, TX for an additional night due to icy road conditions, we drove down to Big Bend National Park on Friday.  I'm glad we waited a day because our drive down was under sunny blue skies. We drove on to Rio Grande Village where we found a site in the no-hook up campground. We have had our Cameo fifth wheel for almost three years, and until this trip, we had never dry camped and really tried out the solar panels on the rig.  Bill and I were thrilled with the way the rig performed.  We brought along a small generator (just in case), but we never needed it.One of the hikes we did was Lost Mine Trail.  It was about 5 miles round trip and climbed for some great views of the park.
