a life made simple - TRIP TO EL CENTRO
From the site: a life made simple - TRIP TO EL CENTRO
Thursday we decided to head into Zihuatanejo to the central market. There isn't much you can't find there but today we were looking for produce.Another day we'll probably spend more time looking around at the stalls and I'll show you those photos too.We find that with the heat we need to keep our shopping trips quite short or we all get a bit frazzled. Here are the combis that replaced the buses we were traveling on two years ago. We'll be very used to this form of travel by the time we leave here. Off to El Centro Zihuatanejo - looks like I caught Derek in a yawn.Cas came and sat back with me to get the breeze off the open window. Before long we were walking around town. We only walked around downtown Zihuatanejo a few times last time s ...Read more...

We had a pretty laid-back kind of day today. The forecast was for a little cooler temps with some cloud and possible rain...the clouds made for a beautiful sunrise...It was one of those mornings where we putz'd around and next thing we knew it was noon! So we packed a lunch and decided to head out for a drive. The mountains are looking pretty spectacular today...There were a couple of waysides along highway 85 as we headed in the other day that we thought we'd go check out. We discovered waysides are like rest areas without toilet facilities. Our first stop was at Tillotson Peak Wayside...where there are a couple of interpretive displays describing the landscape.Tillotson Peak...Then we continued north......to Ajo Mountains Wayside...where ...Read more...

From the site: News from Travels with Dave and Elaine Violette - Various RV stuff on Sunday
Phoenix AZ It was time to do some routine tasks around OurHous; stuff that has to be done as part of motorhome living. This morning I spent much of the time on web systems work, but this afternoon it was time to pay attention to other work. Draining our waste tanks is part of the routine; I leave the black tank valve closed until it is time to drain the tank - usually about a week. I leave the grey tank valve partially open for about five days and then close it to build up some level in the tank so that I can use it to flush the sewer hose after draining the black. This system has worked well for me over the eight years we have been living in a motorhome. This way, with the grey tank valve partially open when Elaine does laundry we don't ...Read more...

Today we made it into Georgia. It is nice to be back in my home state where things look, well, familiar...tall pines, squawking crows, and a church on every corner. We stopped for the night at Whitetail Ridge Campground, a Corp of Engineer park on West Point Lake just outside Lagrange, GA. Just look at this huge site! This is why we love COE parks. We have water and 30 amp electric...not bad for $12.00. On our way today we did a short detour to visit Tuskegee Airmen National Historic Site. This site is very well done and worth a visit if you are in the area. While it was lovely to see the two National Parks in Moab again (Arches and Canyonlands), the true excitement about planning this year’s visit to Utah would be finally getting to see 2 new National Parks that had long been on my bucket list—Bryce Canyon and Zion. I originally thought I’d fit in visits to Capital Reef, Escalante, and drive the entire scenic Highway 12 byway all within the one week I had to get from Moab to Zion. But, I quickly realized I’d made the classic “new full-timer” mistake of trying to cram simply way too much into too short a timeline. So, most of those plans got tossed onto the “next time” list, and I focused solely on Bryce for the next few d ...Read more...

"It isn't the mountain that wears you out; it's the sand in your shoe." It was like a walk on the beach, only without soothing white noise waves and a contemplative deep blue sea to put matter over mind. Our slot canyon goal was out of sight, hidden who knows where behind a Godforsaken endless barrage of pink sand heaves and lulls that battered our bows and spirits. Familiar whispers of yet another "mutiny" were bandied about like a badminton birdie. How much sand must be endured to gain this prize? Are we even going in the right direction? Are you sure, John, about this "shortcut?" Our outing was shaping up to have all the appurtenances of a Life metaphor…the qualms, the confusion… false starts and false summit ...Read more...

So far, we’ve spent most of our time in the French Quarter but today, we’re heading over to the Garden district where some of the older more opulent homes are. It’s a walking tour around an area of about 16 square blocks. But, ooh, the area might be small but the architecture is beautiful. We were able to park on the street in the area and begin our walking tour with this beautiful home. The paperwork we had says that Nicolas Cage lives here, having bought the home from Anne Rice. Here’s the top of Sandra Bullock’s home. When we first hit the road in Nov of 2012 we didn’t really think we would ever stay in the same place twice while traveling the country but we have been proven wrong. In fact this is the second time we have stayed here at the Lake Havasu State Park. That’s us in site #10. Pretty good spacing and a great view of the lake I guess what it comes down to is that when we left southern Oregon in 2012 we did our research and picked what we thought would be the best route south to warmer areas that we thought we would like.
