Wanting a close-up look of Lake Amistad, we took a drive to Box Canyon...accessible by Box Canyon Road off of Rte 90. It is a community of retirement homes, weekend getaways (for fishing), and some local, full-time residents.The primary feature of the community is the boat ramp. It is well-maintained and can handle multiple boats. This location provides access to the upper parts of Lake Amistad. We did some hiking in the area.The distant opposite shore is Mexico.Sadie enjoyed running around off-leash here!She loves to run to you and shake...drenching you in water.The water is very clear and a beautiful blue.Limestone cliffs can be found in the upper part of the reservoir.
