Yesterday morning, we woke up at Datil Well Campground which is about 15 minutes from the Very Large Array. The VLA consists of 27 radio antennas set up in a Y formation. Combined, their data is processed by a super computer and produces the “resolution of an antenna 36km (22 miles) across, with the sensitivity of a dish 130 meters (422 feet) in diameter.” The Very Large Array is available for use by students and researchers around the world!
