Buffalo are native to most of the eastern United States. They were just extirpated earlier here because it was settled by the Europeans sooner and more heavily than the west. It’s plenty hot on the Great Plains too. Buffalo shed and deal with conditions much the same way that cattle do, they lay around a lot and graze in the shade and when the sun is down.
