Harlan and Terrie Winter – mid 1950’s God has a way of prying loose things in your life. Honestly sometimes I wished he would leave well enough alone, but alas we are all imperfect works that are being shaped. So there is no escape from our wounds. It must have been 1978 or 1979 approximately. My dad loved to spend time at his friend Wes’ gas station. Back then we didn’t have convenience stores. At this gas station they had the old Coke cooler where you left up the lid all you see is the pop bottle lids. Lids mattered. You grab the bottle, pry off the lid on the side of the cooler and you pay at the counter. I didn’t do Coke. I did Canada Dry Creme Soda or Grape Soda.
