Texas’ Balmorhea State Park is the perfect destination for those traveling by RV (or tent camping) between El Paso and anywhere east along I-10. This is our fifth stay at this unique public park that sits on the edge of the Davis Mountains (at an elevation of a little over 3,200′) about 7 miles south of I-10 on Texas Hwy. 17. The campground features 34 campsites (some pull-through) with shade shelters. Ours, with electricity and water, was $14 plus $14 for day use passes. (Because we did not purchased a Texas State Parks Annual Pass for $70, we had to pay the $7/person/day use fee.) Cable TV is available or an extra charge. There are restrooms with showers.
