It was another pretty day, and the plan was to hike the Escarpment Trail in the "Lake of the Clouds" area of Porcupine Mountains Wilderness State Park. And, if we felt like it, we might add the 2.7-mile Overlook Trail loop at the end. I tossed around several hiking options, but I just couldn't put the trails together for a short enough loop hike for the day. The Escarpment Trail is 4.3 miles one way, and we really didn't want to hike it twice for 8.6 miles. We considered taking the truck and the Jeep and putting them at each end of the Escarpment Trail, but ultimately we decided to just take the Jeep.
