It's been a while since we could just sit outside sipping a cup of coffee enjoying the local ambiance, and the sun on our faces......when we began our journey south from Spokane we didn't expect to be able t do it every day, but we did expect to be able to it a couple times a week.....that's what we get for having expectations.  The weather has not cooperated even a little.  It has been consistently cold, windy, cloudy, rainy and snowy.  Usually one expects, reasonably, that the further south one travels the odds of encountering warmer weather increase with each mile......it only took 970 of those miles to find warmer weather.....right here in Bishop, CA.Sunrise Sunday brought us clear blue skies, temperatures rising to the m ...Read more...

I checked google maps, and the road up into the hills only goes for 2 kms (1.3 miles) so we decided to head into the city.Pereira is a modern looking city of about 380,000 people. When I went to go on our Verizon internet MIFI I found it was not working! So waited for Suzie to get up  and she called Verizon. Apparently they have made some changes so we will be down for a day or so. Not a big problem, just an inconvenience, we have free wifi here in the park but just cannot get it from our coach anymore there is a few more rv's between us and the clubhouse. Yesterday, an air show at the Pensacola Naval Air Station welcomed the Blue Angels home, marking the end of this year air show season.  We headed over to the base early with the motorhome and found a parking spot just a short walk to the flight line.  This allowed us to go back and forth to the motorhome for food, A/C and a clean bathroom.There was a full day of static displays and  flight demonstrations with a well known civilian aerobatic teams. I'd say we had the ultimate in lazy days on Monday. Although we were up early (5:00), it was 8:00 by the time we decided to get our resistance exercises over with and get on with our day. Mind you, all that 'our day' consisted of today...for the most part...was sitting outside in the shade. It was another hot day...even hotter than yesterday...with temps up to 89F/32C (93F/34C inside the trailer!).  As I sit down to compose today's entry regarding yesterday's happenings the temperature here just south of Carson City, NV is 23 degrees.....the skies are clear, and there is a puddle of frozen water just across the aisle from our coach.....not the coldest we have been in with the Newell, but it was certainly cold enough for long enough last night to freeze water.  When I left off yesterday's post it was snowing, but by 0930 it had stopped, the sun came out, and we decided go ahead and make our scheduled run up to South Lake Tahoe to visit friends at TVC.  We left around 1120 to make the drive up and over Spooner Summit (7,200') and over to TVC.  The drive was uneventful, full of sunshine, but very cold.....in fact it w ...Read more...

For me, it's never been what I do so much as where. I'm not sure where that philosophy came from (my light-footed parents?) but I'm thankful for the leeway it brought to my life. It allowed me to set a course to unpopulated and oppositional places, where lowly deserts rub elbows with high mountains, and a life that suits my restless G-nome. If "home" is where the heart is, I'm there, 24-7-365. However, and I don't say this lightly, there are places in Utah that, in season, feel as much or more like "home" than Lovely Ouray.
