“Three Men Hurled Into Eternity in the Duration of a Moment” Tombstone Epitaph Oct 27th, 1881 3 tourists on horseback pose with Wyatt Earp in downtown Tombstone A cool cat hangs downtown Such were the words that headed the local newspaper in Tombstone, AZ the day after one of the most famous gunfights in wild west history. It happened at 3PM at the OK Corral between outlaw brothers Tom & Frank McLaury and Billy Clanton, and the Earp brothers (Virgil, Morgan & Wyatt), aided by Doc Holliday and resulted in 3 deaths (the Earps & Doc walked away). But the story was not always so well known. On the Road of Retirement - Second Year Expenses - Full Timing in an RV…

From the site: On the Road of Retirement - Second Year Expenses - Full Timing in an RV…

How much money is enough to full time in an RV is a frequently asked question that comes up frequently. As I stated last year there is no universal answer for this question. Simply put each of us spends money differently. What we may consider a necessity (wine to us) others may consider an unnecessary expense. I offer you these numbers to give those who want some idea of how much money is enough to full time in an RV… I have plotted everything out in a spreadsheet which gave rise to our first budget. We have now been full timing in our RV for just over two years. Just like last year I went back to see how well we did this year as compared to our budget. In our first year we were over budget by 13.7 percent in large part due to cost ...Read more...

Running Away with Doug and Nancy - Lo de Marcos to Valle de Juarez

From the site: Running Away with Doug and Nancy - Lo de Marcos to Valle de Juarez

Travel days....they suck. Mostly because we have to set the alarm. I know, pretty sad, huh? Especially when you want to leave by 8 am. Oh well, that's just us. No use trying to change now!!Now, some of you may remember that when we headed out to the coast last week, we took the old Hwy 601. Super, super twisty. Doug said it was the WORST road he had ever driven. He has only just recovered!! That route from Valle de Juarez to Bucerias, took us nearly 9 hours! Well, today, we were about 1 hour north of Bucerias in Lo de Marcos when we started. We took the "regular" route, via Compestella, and the Mex 15D toll highway. Well now, wasn't that about 3 hours shorter a trip on the way home. Still, we are glad that we did the old, tougher& ...Read more...

Uploads by RVgeeks - RV Solar Panel Installation Overview

From the site: Uploads by RVgeeks - RV Solar Panel Installation Overview

RV Solar Panel Installation Overview As we spend a fair amount of time boondocking (camping without hook-ups), solar panels have given us the freedom to enjoy the peace & quiet of remote locations without running our generator too much. Since we already installed our panels on the RV (7 years ago), this is just an overview of our set-up, as opposed to a detailed tutorial. We show the general layout and components of the system, including the panels themselves, the wiring and the solar controller. We also talk about the benefits of including a simple and inexpensive tilt kit, which allows tilting the solar panels up in the winter, when the sun is lower on the horizon. Our first RV had two panels, which were permanently fastened fla ...Read more...

Dave & Diane throwing caution to the wind: - Travel Day to Casa Grande

From the site:  Dave & Diane throwing caution to the wind: - Travel Day to Casa Grande

As I had my morning coffee I stood outside and enjoyed the pure quiet of the park. Interrupted only by the sounds of a few birds. This is one of those special places that I think we both hate to leave. It has the natural beauty that we both love, the hiking is great, it’s not a packed commercialized park, the night skies are filled with stars that you can see without all of the city streetlights taking away from the view and for us you can’t beat the $6 per night with the Old Fart pass LOL!!! - Read more....

RV.net: - Is it realistic to think that renewable energy will become common in RVs in our lifetime?

From the site:  RV.net: - Is it realistic to think that renewable energy will become common in RVs in our lifetime?

Inventors and inventions are a dime a dozen, as the saying goes. Proof is the number of patents filed in the US Patent Office every year (over 500,000 in 2010). Few ever make it to the marketplace, and even fewer become profitable. But that is where creativity takes root, and if the venture capital flows and the public accepts the product–take the iPhone or iPad for example–sales can go viral. - Read more....
