From the site: RVing - RV Gas Mileage: Tips For Balancing RV Fuel Economy With Comfort And Luxury

One of the biggest concerns these days when shopping for an RV is what the cost of fuel is going to do to your travel budget. This past summer I learned the hard way that attempts to reduce the cost of RV travel can backfire, resulting in less comfort and a much less enjoyable RV experience.Read more: RV Gas Mileage: Tips For Balancing RV Fuel Economy With Comfort And Luxury ...Read more...

live. work. dream. - Quick Tip for Winter Weather RVing

From the site: live. work. dream. - Quick Tip for Winter Weather RVing

There’s currently a winter storm pounding the Northeast with snow, freezing rain and record low temperatures. That’s too bad. That’s also why you’ll find us in some Southwest desert come this time of year. Before we fled Colorado to fly south this winter though, we got hammered with a fair dumping of our own. How to Protect RV Hookups in Winter Weather Here’s a quick trick I tried to help protect exposed RV electrical utility hookups from damage caused by severe winter weather. It worked great during those Rocky Mountain floods of 2013! You don’t need some costly gadget to keep your RV electrical cord connections from getting wet! Prevent sensitive electronics and costly surge guards in a few simple st ...Read more...

RV Days with Jessica and Harry - Another Dreary But Happily Uneventful Travel Day

From the site: RV Days with Jessica and Harry - Another Dreary But Happily Uneventful Travel Day

Location: Galveston, TX (High 65, Low 58) This morning as we packed up, we were happy to see that it was relatively warm outside. But no sun!         We weren’t sure how crazy the trip was going to be today, because we were were going to get pretty close to Houston.       We did hit some traffic, but we never had to slow down below our usual traveling speed.   We were happy when we started heading out of the Houston area and the traffic started to die down.         A little after 1 pm we rolled into Galveston.         It was an easy 11 mile drive from the bridge to the RV park.                 We are all set ...Read more...

GoneByRV - A Small Taste of Quartzsite, AZ

From the site: GoneByRV - A Small Taste of Quartzsite, AZ

Casa Grande, AZ               (Click on Pics to Enlarge)A few months ago we thought that we might take our rig to Quartzsite, AZ and "experience" boondocking in the desert with several hundred thousand other folks.  As the time got nearer, I just decided that I didn't want to pack up the rig and drive up to Quartzsite for a few days.  Maybe in the years to come we might think about trying to do the "Quartzsite RV experience".We had heard that several of our friends were staying in Quartzsite and received invitations from them to get together.  So, on Monday we made the 3 hour drive from Casa Grande to Quartzsite to have lunch with friends Bill and Kathy and ...Read more...

From the site: Running Away with Doug and Nancy - Bizbee AZ to Radium Springs (Las Cruces NM (255 Miles)

Okay, good thing I am a fast typer!! I have exactly 20 minutes of battery power before I run out!!  We are sitting at the visitor centre at Leasburg Dam State Park, just about 15 miles north of Las Cruces. Super great to be here instead of the slightly long in the tooth, city parks that were in Las Cruces!!We left Bizbee this morning and had a great drive. It is a l-o-n-g drive across this area. Pretty flat (although you are high in elevation, which accounts for all the freezing cold nights!)Euri ready to roll!!Other side of the damn...Really long valley!!Yea!! We made it into New Mexico!!!Pretty much looks like Arizona!!   Somewhere between here and there!!Okay, so Arizona had it's snakes too and so does New Mexico!!Thi ...Read more...

By Bob Difley California is in the midst of the worst drought since records have been taken. in fact, the rain fall this year is half what the previous worst year total was. This loss of available water stores (snow pack, reservoirs, aquifers, etc.) will be disastrous for farmers, spawning salmon, and homeowners (who water […] ...Read more...

Love Your RV! - Check Your RV Tires Age Tip

From the site: Love Your RV! - Check Your RV Tires Age Tip

Using Old Tires can be Unsafe!Check the age of your tires and change them if they are getting too old. Most RV and Trailer tires should be changed at around 5 years and vehicle tires 7 years. These are just general rules of thumb that I use. To be sure check with your tires manufacture. Also check the DOT code on the tire to see the exact day the tire was produced they may have sat on a shelf for some time before being sold. An old tire can look great and have perfect tread on the outside but be rotted on the inside leading to a blow out. Here is a good link with info regarding tire aging.Don’t be like this girl riding on old tiresThe post Check Your RV Tires Age Tip appeared first on Love Your RV!. ...Read more...

On the Road of Retirement - A Reunion in Vero Beach, Florida…

From the site: On the Road of Retirement - A Reunion in Vero Beach, Florida…

As planned we traveled to Vero Beach after leaving the Tampa RV show. We ventured over to the other side of Florida to visit Sharon’s cousins on Friday and Saturday. Just before making our way over to their condo we stopped at one of the local parks for a view of the Atlantic Ocean. I love how the surf nearly always seems more robust and louder on the east coast than anywhere on the west side of Florida. After our seaside stroll we headed over to the condo where Sharon’s cousin’s wife Penny greeted us. Cousin John was still on the way back from the airport after picking up Sharon's other cousin, Nancy, whom we hadn’t seen since we lived in San Antonio, Texas over 35 years ago! Needless to say we were anxious to see h ...Read more...
