Where are we today ? Pilot Knob Resort Winterhaven California       Today is another wonderful one, not too cold and almost sunny. Lotsa walkabouts the resort and the desert around the resort. After our usual start to the day, we got our exercises over with and got on with our day. We each did our "own thing" today...Steve headed outside to take care of a few chores while I did my hair and cleaned up the kitchen.We loaded the boat back onto the truck and then Steve headed into town to run some errands (gas, propane, water) and to have some "alone time" wandering around some of the vendors. While he was gone, I did some baking and banking...and then sat outside reading.It was going on 3:00 when Steve got home. We were sitting outside when Rob and Peg popped by on their quad. We've  been here at Gulf Waters over month already, what with Thanksgiving, fishing (Dave) and all of the socializing we've been doing the time has flown by. Three and a half more and we'll be heading back north to VT :(We're ready for Christmas, lights up outside, the tree is up and the inside is decorated, packages to the kids are in the mail. We take great pride in such things as never needing to plug into the grid(the last time was nine months ago), seeing how long we can go without needing to hook up and go dump our tanks (so far our record is six weeks), and seeing how cold the weather can get outside before we need to turn on the heat inside (so far, 9 degrees outside along with 41 degrees inside).So now we find ourselves plugged in at the Circus Circus RV park right on the Strip in Las Vegas. They even approved two small tax increases over the years for land acquisition and improvements such as hiking trails and trailhead parking areas. There are now six trailheads and over 100 miles of trails for hiking, mountain biking and horseback riding, free for anyone to use. How nice of Scottsdale to preserve this magnificent landscape. We recently took a drive down to Ft. Lauderdale to visit Flamingo Gardens. I do love a flamingo! FlamingoFlamingo Gardens is a wildlife sanctuary, aviary and botanical gardens. We practically had the whole place to ourselves. We took the narrative tram ride and walked a bit to see the critters and the gardens. I wish I had paid more attention to the names of the plants and trees. Wow, it is hard to believe that Katie has already been here for a week and that Christmas is only a few days away. Not to mention our two month stay here in San Diego will also come to an end in about two weeks. This had me thinking about all we have done in our time here and things yet to be done. Just before Katie came to visit we had dinner with a couple we met through RVillage. We first met for a walk around the Liberty Station area and stopped for a light lunch at the Stone Brewery. A week or so later they invited us over to dinner at their home.. They have a very nice home sitting on the hillside overlooking Mission Bay, the airport and much of north side of San Diego.
