Van-Tramp.com - Maligne Lake, Jasper National Park

From the site: Van-Tramp.com - Maligne Lake, Jasper National Park

Coming into Jasper National Park all Kerri could talk about was Maligne Lake. She was told by a ex-local that this was *the* lake to see, and she believed that person. We scanned it from satellite view ahead of time and the one thing that stuck in my mind was that it was very large… or to be more accurate, long. 14 miles long! No way I was going to kayak that distance. On top of the distance the impression I got was that it had more a reservoir feel than a true lake with little to see or do via kayak. Let’s just get this out there; I was wrong. Sure the turquoise color of the water which is eye catching, but I have grown use to the color since Montana – even at risk for taking it for granted – it is the mountains th ...Read more...

Aluminarium - Plugged in – in Cedar City

From the site: Aluminarium - Plugged in â€" in Cedar City

The high temperatures this week forced us to find the coolest place to camp between Lee Vining, CA and the North Rim of the Grand Canyon. I checked the elevation for a bunch of locations and settled on Cedar City UT (5,840 feet), but with highs in the low 90’s we still had to plug in. Brian had already scouted Cedar City, so we had photos of all the locations. I filtered Campendium by price and chose Indian Peaks RV Park because it was relatively cheap and the park looked empty in the photos. During our 4 nights here, Indian Peaks had only 3 other RVers each staying just one night. Otherwise it was just us, the camp host and full-timer tent (pictured in the first photo) and a full-timer RV (pictured above). This place worked out fine ...Read more...

OUR NEWELL ADVENTURE - TVC - Day 39 - Content....as in.....I'm very happy

From the site: OUR NEWELL ADVENTURE - TVC - Day 39 - Content....as in.....I'm very happy

The look of contentment (courtesy Lynda Perkins)As we near the end of our 40th month of our vagabonding I have to take time to reflect......flect is from the Latin meaning to bend, flex, turn back......so I am 'turning back', or reflecting, once again to see what was and what is....What was.......back in our 'workaday' lives I saw Elaine for an hour, or so, in the mornings, sometimes less, before she headed off to her sales and marketing job, and then I would see her again in the evening when I got home around 6 pm for a few hours before we went to bed and started the whole 'hamster wheel' thing all over again the next morning.  Between my main vocation as a Property and Casualty Insurance Broker and my avocation as a professional socc ...Read more...

Life In An RV | FTRVing.com - Trip Planning Websites

From the site: Life In An RV | FTRVing.com - Trip Planning Websites

For our RVing friends. I have found two websites that I think you may want to know about. The first is for trip planning. It is a paid service ($30 a year). The site is (RV Trip Wizard). This site allows you to choose how far you want to travel per day and then displays the campgrounds (private, membership, military etc) within the area you will be traveling. It also creates a budget with fuel, camping, food and other expenses. You can export the trip to Excel or GPS. I used this for two trip plans now and will be a member until I come off the road. The second website deals with finding things to do in the areas you will be visiting. It is Festivalnet.com. I recently found this site and have been using it to find events in our area and wh ...Read more...
