Mali Mish - A visit to Santa Barbara Auto Camp.

From the site: Mali Mish - A visit to Santa Barbara Auto Camp.

Even though we are not technically on our trip, as denoted by the lack of a “Day: Number” in the blog title, we still don’t have a sticks and bricks house to call home. Our rental property in Los Angeles where we will be moving to is still occupied and we needed to make a trip up to the Ventura/Santa Barbara area for work. As we were making our way back to California, we were contacted by Matt Hofmann of Hofmann Architecture to help spread the word about his new Airstream Hotel. Since it is located in Santa Barbara, our old college stomping ground, we thought that we might as well stop by and chat with him while we are in town. He agreed and we set a date to make sure he would be here to let us into some of the trailers ...Read more...

Rick & Paulette's RV Travels - Canada’s Awesome Oversize Road Attractions

From the site: Rick & Paulette's RV Travels - Canada’s Awesome Oversize Road Attractions

All of us who travel across the Untied States in our RV’s have noticed many of the giant road attractions alongside highways, located in the parking lots of business establishments or even in a municipal park  These attractions range from Paul Bunyan in Bemidji, Minnesota, to Randy’s Donuts in Inglewood, California. Here’s two American roadside attractions Many of us have written about these strange sights along America’s highways and have shown photos of them in our blogs.  Here in Canada, we’re not immune to these weird and wonderful roadside attractions either. Large landmarks are starting to appear all over so I thought I’d give everyone a preview of a few of these really big attractions s ...Read more...

"The Next Chapter" Rated RV-13 - June 16, 2013 "Murphy Returns - Georgetown, KY"

From the site: "The Next Chapter" Rated RV-13 - June 16, 2013 "Murphy Returns - Georgetown, KY"

Mere minutes had passed since our last post on June 2, when at the door a knock was heard. Not a strange one, but one we knew all too well; Murphy was back! Why he has to show up and rain on our parade when we have plans is frustrating, to say the least. CC was in the process of preparing a gourmet meal of frozen pizza, when the lights went out….BAM! I’m thinking either power outage of blown main circuit breaker. The neighbors had power and our breaker was not tripped. Hmmmm……………We also had no DC power, and the voltmeter indicated 10.5V, which had shut down the inverter due to low voltage. Hmmmm……….A check of all circuit breakers on the rig showed no signs of tripping. Hmm ...Read more...

Turn When the Road Does - A slow and interrupted internet connection but a busy week

From the site: Turn When the Road Does - A slow and interrupted internet connection but a busy week

The internet connection has become sporadic but mostly no connection at all.  I am researching the solution that best fits our needs, more to tell on that when I ‘pull the trigger’.  Sorry for fewer posts.  Let’s try to catch up. We had Ryleigh (the oldest of our six grand’s) spend the week with us.  Next week it is her sisters turn.  The second day she was here there was a group float organized by Tammy (the assistant superintendent) who is on vacation and has her granddaughters for the week also. The first float VIEW SLIDE SHOW DOWNLOAD ALL It was the hottest day of the year so far and ...Read more...

The MoHo and Other Traveling Tales - Let there be light

From the site: The MoHo and Other Traveling Tales - Let there be light

Rocky Point Oregon clear and 59 degrees F  Today’s low 42 high 75 It is mid June already.  Solstice is less than a week away and the skies are still light late into the evening.  I know there is rhythm to the patterns of the seasons, but it always seems to me that the longest day of the year should come in mid summer and not while I am still trying to feel summer is coming.  Even in our forest, where sunrises and sunsets are obscured by the huge firs that surround us, the light lingers.  I remember my days living in North Idaho, when the skies would be light after ten pm and I would rise with the sun and the birds at 4:30 in the morning.  Sometimes I miss that, those incredibly long days, but I really d ...Read more...

The Good Luck Duck - Cloudcroft, New Mexico: not on fire yet

From the site: The Good Luck Duck - Cloudcroft, New Mexico: not on fire yet

I don't know what day it is, but I'm pretty sure I've spent two nights outside Cloudcroft, in Lincoln National Forest. I have so much to tell you! I've forgotten what it was!Oh, here's something: it's hard to find wifi there. Saw a sign outside a real estate office: "HOTSPOT." I found it tepid. Then I moved on to the Chamber of Commerce, whose written policy is "The longer you lurk out there in your Prius, the worse your connection will get. Welcome to Cloudcroft!"I stayed for a couple of nights at Upper Karr Recreation Area. I figured I didn't mind sharing my space with other campers. Nope. Nary a one. One SUV pulled in, spotted me, and didn't even slow down in his loop back to escape. Fine with me - no need to put my clothes back on, then ...Read more...

RVing - Thinking Of Selling Your RV? Insider Tips For Creating The Best RV Ad Online

From the site: RVing - Thinking Of Selling Your RV? Insider Tips For Creating The Best RV Ad Online

I wanted to bring something that we know a little bit about to The Fun Times Guide. We at RVT.com see thousands of units change hands every year, and we’re looking closely at how people list their units – both private sellers and dealers – always looking to pick up on what results in a successful sale and what doesn’t. One of my favorite pages on our website is the testimonials page where you can read current success stories from some of our many sellers. Here’s what I feel is the most effective way to look at advertising your RV…  Read more: Thinking Of Selling Your RV? Insider Tips For Creating The Best RV Ad Online ...Read more...

Ray and Cindy's RV Travels - Riley Creek Campground, Denali National Park, Day 40 June 11, 2013

From the site: Ray and Cindy's RV Travels - Riley Creek Campground, Denali National Park, Day 40 June 11, 2013

Yesterday morning we left Teklanika Campground and headed out to the Park entrance. We had more beautiful scenery, but saw no animals. The day started out cloudy, but soon turned into a nice sun shinny day. We  needed to dump our holding tanks and refill with water. While I was there, a fifth wheel trailer moved over from another line to behind me. I didn't think too much about it, and went back and apologized for taking so long. He told me that it was OK because he was entertaining himself watching the other campers dump. I thought that was a little bit of a strange statement until Cindy told me later what was going on. It seems that there were two rental motor homes trying to dump and they had no idea how to proceed. They were t ...Read more...

Living The Dream... - Tuesday, June 11, 2013 (Historic Hat Creek Ranch, Cache Creek, BC)

From the site: Living The Dream... - Tuesday, June 11, 2013 (Historic Hat Creek Ranch, Cache Creek, BC)

After a great night's sleep, we woke up to a beautiful day.  We had our usual start to the day and then instead of showering in our rig, we both used the shower house.  With no water at the sites, we had limited water on board and since we had decided to stay another night, we needed to conserve it.  While I had my shower and was getting ready for our tour of Historic Hat Creek Ranch, Steve was outside taking a few pictures with his camera...The ranch hosts a lot of tour buses, school kids and tourists from all over the world.  While we were there, a bus tour of Germans were on their way to Whistler, then Vancouver.  Steve took this picture of a couple of tour bus drivers playing horseshoes while waiting for their g ...Read more...
