While searching for new places to hike around Yuma I came across Muggins Mountains Wilderness area, 7,700 acres of rugged, rocky terrain managed by the BLM and located about 25 miles east of town. I read about a 5 mile loop hike around Muggins Peak so we decided to go check it out. You can also do a 4 mile round trip hike up to the peak but it was a hot day and we decided to take the easy route around the base.. The dirt road to the parking area is about a mile long and in fairly good shape.
